Leone
Hall Price Memorial Park Master Plan
Public
input meetings for the Leone Hall Price Memorial Park were held
on October 3rd and November 14th at the West Cobb Regional Library.
A proposed Master Plan will be presented to the Cobb County
Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting scheduled for
Tuesday, January 9, 9:00 a.m. on the 2 nd Floor, Building A,
100 Cherokee Street, Marietta, Georgia. View the proposed

Bowl Brunch
Pick out a beautiful, hand-made bowl made by area artists and
have it filled with your choice of hot concoctions. Each bowl
you choose will cost $10 which the Mountain View Arts Alliance
will in turn give to local charities. Event to be held December

Annual Candy Cane Hunt
Cobb
County Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs' 4th Annual Candy
Cane Hunt will be held Saturday, December 2nd at
the Historic Mable House from 10:30am - 12:30pm . Join other
families from around the County in a social event full of fun
and laughter. This year, the candy cane hunt includes free cookie
decorating, crafts, roasting marshmallows, prizes, and caroling

Dinner
With Santa 
Santa
wants to meet all kids 12 and under at Ward Recreation Center
for dinner and take pictures with you and Mrs. Claus. We will
have a coloring contest, arts and crafts, and special entertainment
provided by local schools. Hey, kids bring your wish list for
Santa to approve. The dinner will be held at
Ward Recreation Center on December 7.
The cost is $5 per person, with children 2 and under free.

The
Cobb County Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Affairs Department
hosted its 26th Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet on November
16th at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel. Over 400 volunteers were
in attendance representing 68 volunteer organizations that provide
programs in department facilities. Several volunteers were honored
for their outstanding commitment to the department and programs:

Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs now offers
online registration for many of our programs beginning with
the winter quarter. To take advantage of the EZ-Reg online
registration, you will need a PIN number and a Log-in ID.
If you have registered for a program during this year, you probably
have already been assigned a Pin number and Log-in ID.
If you have not registered for a program, you can acquire your
PIN number and Log-in ID by going to any recreation facility

Al
Bishop Complex Awarded National Championship
At
its recent national convention held in Colorado Springs,
the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) awarded Cobb County
its Men's Class 'D' Southern Slow-Pitch National Championship
tournament for 2008. The tourney is expected to draw about
75-100 teams from throughout the southern United States
and will be played Labor Day Weekend at both the Al Bishop
and Lost Mountain softball complexes. Cobb has hosted 38
ASA national championships since 1981, including the Men's
Class 'C' Fast-Pitch finals this past summer. In 2007, the
county will host the Men's 10-Man Modified Pitch Championship.
Lost
Mountain Tennis Center named ‘Outstanding
Tennis Facility' for 2006
by the United States Tennis Association.
This is a prestigious award that goes to a select few of the
thousands of tennis facilities throughout the country.
The official announcement was made during the annual USTA
meeting held in New York in conjunction with the US Open.
The award recognizes those facilities based on the overall
facilities quality and structure and the facilities programs
in promoting tennis and serving the community. All
award winners will be inscribed on a large wall plaque displayed
in the lobby of the USTA National Tennis Center, site of the
US Open.
New
Soccer Complex Under Construction
The
new West Sandtown Soccer Complex is now under construction on
Barrett Parkway just south of Macland Road. Included in
the park are five lighted soccer fields, concession/restroom
building, walking trail, playground, parking, and maintenance
compound. The complex is scheduled to be open for play
for the Fall 2007 season.
Sweat
Mountain Dog Park is Now Open
Cobb County's first off-leash
dog park is now open to dog owners.
The off-leash area officially opened October 21 in Sweat Mountain
Park. Sweat Mountian Park is located on Steinhauer Road approximately
one mile north of Lassiter High School. There is an
area for large dogs and an area for smaller dogs weighing
30 lbs. or less. Operating hours are from dawn to dusk.
